Together for Every Student

I am running for Durham District School Board (DDSB) trustee for the City of Pickering to be a strong, approachable, and responsive advocate for students, parents, and families. I believe that students deserve nurturing learning environments, parents should feel informed and included, and that school decisions must echo the realities families face every day.

My perspective is shaped by my education, experience supporting students, working in higher education administration, and contributing to community-based education initiatives.

Holding a Bachelor of Education from York University and having pursued a Master's of Education at the University of Toronto, I care deeply about creating supportive learning environments where every student can learn, grow, and succeed.

Professionally, I have worked in higher education environments including York University, Osgoode Hall Law School, the Schulich School of Business, and the University of Toronto. In these roles, I supported leadership and academic units with administrative operations, strategic planning, and student-focused initiatives. This experience has given me a strong understanding of how large education systems function and how decisions at the institutional level impact students and staff.

In addition, I founded a tutoring centre through the Summer Company Program funded by the Ministry of Economic Development, where I supported students and families through accessible academic support services and learned firsthand the importance of removing barriers to learning. I have worked directly with students through tutoring and education support roles, helping learners with diverse academic needs and reinforcing the importance of strong communication between educators, students, and families.

My experience also includes supporting students and families from multiple perspectives. I have worked directly with students with diverse learning needs and have seen the importance of strong support systems both inside and outside the classroom. Through my experience with the Catholic Children's Aid Society, I contributed to discussions on educational advocacy, student pathways, and supports for children and youth facing barriers in the education system.

My involvement in educational engagement has also included serving as a ward representative on the French as a Second Language Advisory Committee (FSLAC) and as a parent representative on the school council with the Toronto District School Board, where I gained additional insight into language programming and parent perspectives in public education.

These combined experiences have shaped my belief that effective trustees must understand both the lived experiences of families and the operational realities of education systems. I bring both perspectives into how I approach problem-solving, decision-making, and advocacy.

I am running for students — to ensure that every child in Pickering, regardless of their background, language, or ability, has access to a quality education in a safe and supportive environment.
